Completed in collaboration with Aedas HK, the simple diagram for the building creates a central performing arts block, created from a bronze facade and cantilevering 14m from the front of the building. The sports wing to the left is intended to be a community facility and contains 2 sports hall and an Olympic sized swimming pool. The two teaching wings to the right contain foundation stage and the lower years to the base with pupils progressing by age up the building.
Flagship facilities such as the 650 seat auditorium and the 12m diameter planetarium can be accessed from the main atrium space and central library facilities are also located here to celebrate learning. Internal courtyards ensure that every teaching space has an external wall and outside views and external breakout is possible from every subject zone.
The elevational treatment is inspired by the date palms used to create barasti beach huts along the coast of Dubai.
