Part of Bristol Temple Quarter, the station’s Southern Gateway will create a revitalised transport hub for the modern-day passenger.

Set to become a landmark in Bristol’s cityscape, the Southern Gateway will embrace its strategic position in one of Europe’s largest regeneration schemes. The new gateway embodies Bristol’s unique identity as an independent, ambitious and successful city.

Taking on a multi-modal hub approach, it will enhance the experience of passengers and operators alike, further meeting the needs of a 21st century railway station. Located next to the railway line, our design will incorporate car parking facilities alongside cycle and scooter parking, bus drop off and EV charging points.

Working with Arup, Network Rail and Bristol City Council, our scheme will unlock the land to the north of the station creating space for development, sustainable travel routes, improved passenger facilities and new public spaces.

It will capture Bristol’s creative energy and green ethos, integrating local art into the design and promoting biodiversity. A wide, paved plaza provides a welcoming pedestrian area, accented by minimalistic wayfinding and planters with greenery.

The multi-story car park has vertical cladding and planting accents. On the left of the site, the cycle hub complements the scene, with further greenery and seating areas enhancing the public space.
