We're leading the design of a historic medical building transformation in Leeds
by AHR
We’re thrilled to be part of the transformation of the Grade 2* Listed Old Medical School in Leeds into a cutting-edge Health Tech Innovation Hub.
Scarborough Group International has appointed us to deliver this exciting project where we will sensitively reuse and repurpose this iconic building, giving it a new lease of life while celebrating its rich heritage.
The redeveloped, 75,000 sq ft building will accommodate co-working spaces, meeting rooms, event areas, offices and laboratories, enabling collaboration between start-ups, established industry leaders, academic institutions and healthcare providers.
Thoughtfully preserving its heritage while promoting innovation
Working alongside a fantastic team that includes Buro Happold as engineering consultant, Buttress as heritage consultant, BWF as quantity surveyor, and Zerum as planning consultant, our approach will carefully balance the preservation of the building’s architectural heritage with the introduction of modern design elements required to support advanced health tech research and collaboration.
This project is a true testament to the power of architecture to bridge past and future, in an exemplar and sustainable retrofit solution.
Building on expertise
We were delighted with this appointment, building on our extensive experience in designing and delivering meaningful and impactful life sciences spaces that not only support groundbreaking discoveries but also leave a lasting positive impact on society.
We’re really looking forward to progressing with this exciting project, with preparations in place to submit plans to Leeds City Council early this year.
