We are thrilled to share that the transformational redevelopment of Leicester Station has received planning approval.

The redeveloped station will create a welcoming and accessible gateway into the city, without compromising on its unique and historic features.

The design concept focuses on creating more than just a station; it aims to be a destination for opportunities, where people can meet, work, and relax seamlessly. Contributing to Leicester’s economic growth, it will provide a catalyst for further regeneration of the area, and attract a wide range of visitors, including locals, tourists, and workers, providing them with easy access to enjoy the city and everything it has to offer.

Its new design will prioritise space, light and comfort at every opportunity whilst retaining and celebrating its Victorian heritage. Incorporating a reimagined station entrance offers a direct pedestrian route to Granby Street and a new plaza replaces Station Street.

A dedicated taxi drop-off and pick-up point has been relocated to the rear of the station to provide a pedestrian friendly and fully accessible main entrance.

We are working as part of a design team with Arcadis, Cundall and Marrons for our client team, Leicester City Council working with SLC Rail and SLC Property, East Midlands Railway and Network Rail.
