We’re delighted to share that planning approval has been granted for the transformation of the Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot, a key part of the town centre’s wider regeneration strategy.

The revitalised 798-seat theatre will feature an extended gateway entrance leading to a reimagined lobby and bar area, providing an inviting space for both locals and visitors. Refurbishment of the theatre auditorium, new conference facilities, artist dressing rooms, revitalised orchestra pit and an upgraded sound and lighting arrangements with winch and rigging capabilities will support larger, more intricate productions. This will also make the space more multi-functional for community use.

Accessibility improvements are central to the design, with the introduction of a new lift and inclusive routes throughout the building, making it a welcoming venue for everyone.

Outside the theatre, plans for the civic square will create a dynamic, multi-purpose community space featuring new seating and green spaces, further enhancing the area’s cultural and social offering.
