Associate Ian Turrell, a valued member of our building consultancy team for over a decade, stands out for his exceptional ability to foster meaningful working relationships. His excellent rapport with stakeholders and clients fuels his successful project achievements.

Ian has a diverse background and wealth of experience spanning a range of sectors from schools, colleges, and universities to residential, healthcare, transport, civic and community. His thoughtful and problem-solving nature contributes to a timely and budget conscious approach to the delivery of projects.
Ian has a wealth of knowledge and experience working on large scale remodelling and refurbishment projects including an award-winning project for The University of Huddersfield. He has also worked on a number of listed building and heritage projects including the refurbishment of the former Grade II Listed bath house, also for the university.
Within AHR, he wears multiple hats, from employer’s agent, contract administrator, design team principal and technical advisor. He also forms part of the Building Safety Act compliance team, showcases his adaptability in navigating changing regulations. His diverse roles highlight his comprehensive grasp of the technical details and skills required across small to large-scale projects.
Driven by a passion for sustainability, Ian envisions innovative ways to revitalise existing structures in an era of decarbonisation. This forward-thinking approach aligns with his commitment to creating environmentally responsible solutions.
Outside of the office, Ian is a passionate sailor. As a Senior Dinghy Instructor and Powerboat Instructor Ian supports local clubs, activity groups, schools delivering sailing and powerboating courses on a voluntary basis. Ian works closely with The Canal and River Trust delivering Powerboat training for their staff and voluntary members.
