Siemens Mobility Train Manufacturing Facility

By combining our masterplanning, architecture and landscape design teams, we are helping to place Goole at the forefront of the UK rail manufacturing industry with a new facility. Setting a new benchmark for rail manufacturing in the UK and helping enrich the passenger experience for millions, the project will improve Siemens Mobility’s future rail fleet production, which includes the Piccadilly Line.

We collaborated closely with Siemens, Arup and East Riding of Yorkshire Council to develop a sustainable masterplan strategy, which optimised production flow and productivity whilst minimising its environmental impact. This approach also helped contribute to the biodiversity net gain by enhancing the existing ecologically rich habitats, surrounding areas and protecting the endangered species which inhabit it.

Throughout its design, our focus remained on delivering an energy efficient and cost-effective facility, which results in relatively low operational cost for this state of the art facility. The integration of solar panels, natural ventilation and daylight and the use of easy-to-maintain, sustainable materials was key to achieving this.
