Schools and Colleges
We create, refurbish and maintain school and colleges of all types and sizes, to provide inspiring, inclusive and sustainable places to learn
We have decades of experience in this sector and have delivered over 3,000 projects for a huge variety of schools and colleges. From Nursery and Early Years to Primary and Secondary Schools, 6th Form Colleges & Further Education, Special Education Needs (SEN), Free Schools, and Academies.
Collaboration is the key to our success. By engaging with academy trusts, colleges, Local Authorities, diocese bodies, the Department for Education (DfE), contractors, as well as staff, pupils and governors, and the communities they represent, we ensure that our learning environments are inclusive to all.
Working across the whole of the UK, we have a full understanding of the different country specifications, including the Welsh Assemblies Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme and the Scottish Futures Trust. Wherever we work, we take time to fully understand the individual needs of each client.
Sustainability is central to our work in education. We ensure that schools and colleges are designed to meet the latest DfE specification, delivering Net Zero Carbon and Passivhaus schools and colleges.

Successful school sites provide more than just indoor learning, incorporating spaces for sports and outdoor activity, communal areas, pastoral care, and drop-off and pick-up points – all with the safeguarding of students in mind. Through considering how all these elements work together as part of the school masterplan, we deliver functional spaces that inspire students, which are flexible enough to accommodate ever-evolving methods of teaching.
Our experienced team help education estates to make the best use of their existing spaces, ensuring that sites are fit-for-purpose and safe long into the future. We help education spaces to achieve their Zero Carbon ambitions by managing their energy performance, improving efficiency. We also have extensive experience of all aspects of school refurbishment, from fabric-first upgrades to routine repairs and maintenance.
Delivering projects on time and on budget is something we pride ourselves on. With rigorous processes and controls in place to support technical delivery, as well as in-depth knowledge of different funding options, including CIF, our approach to school and college programmes offers significant advantages.
Colleges
How students and staff use their college campus is unique to each one. We take time to understand their individual requirements, by considering the variety of operating methods, diverse timetables, and the different types of buildings and facilities needed to deliver these.
We work across entire college estates, delivering whole college masterplans, creating new college buildings, refurbishing existing spaces, carrying out necessary repairs and maintenance, and developing estate strategies and decarbonisation plans.
We focus on shaping colleges that will help set young people up for future employment and success, providing solutions that incorporate dedicated spaces for both academic and vocational education, with the integration of specialist facilities.
The spaces between college buildings are also key to encouraging interaction between students and instiling a sense of pride and community within their colleges.
While these places are designed for young adults, rather than children, safeguarding remains important, and we incorporate this as a standard throughout all projects in this sector.
